LSU Bookstore and Union Square Parking Garage

This mixed-use campus development combined a six-level parking structure with a multi-story bookstore facility at a major gateway location on the LSU campus.

The 280,000-square-foot parking garage employs a cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete system supported by auger-cast deep foundations, designed to accommodate long-span parking layouts, high traffic volumes, and integrated student organization spaces at ground level.

Adjacent to the garage, the 100,000-square-foot bookstore facility uses a structural steel framing system supported on drilled-shaft foundations. The steel frame enabled open retail spaces, large gathering areas, and flexible interior layouts within the campus bookstore.

A key component of the project involved coordinating the structural separation between the parking structure and bookstore facility, allowing both systems to respond independently to loading and movement conditions while functioning as a unified development.

The completed project provides parking, retail space, and student-focused amenities designed to support long-term campus growth and daily university operations.
