BREC HIGHLAND ROAD PARK
Located in Highland Road Park in Baton Rouge, this open-air pavilion was designed to support community events, public gatherings, and recreational activities throughout the larger park.
The structure features exposed glulam timber trusses, structural wood decking, masonry support piers, and a reinforced concrete foundation system designed to create large unobstructed gathering spaces while maintaining long-term durability in South Louisiana’s climate. Structural coordination focused on supporting long-span open-air construction, wind resistance, and the integration of exposed timber and masonry systems within a high-use public facility.
The pavilion’s open design promotes natural ventilation and strong visual connectivity to the surrounding park, while durable materials and carefully detailed structural systems support long-term public use and reduced maintenance demands.
The completed pavilion provides a flexible outdoor venue for recreation, community programming, and year-round public events.
