Divine Mercy Parish was founded on July 1, 2009 through the merger of neighboring Kenner parishes, Nativity of Our Lord and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The merger leadership team, formed in 2008, set a goal of building a new church so that all parishioners could worship together at one site. Since the merger, Mass and other liturgies have been held at both church locations.

The new church facility will benefit all members of the parish. “A single facility, especially on Sunday, will help with the unity in our parish and promote a greater collaboration in ministry among our parishioners and a more effective outreach to all in need,” Pastor David Dufour said.

In addition to a large church that will accommodate many for Masses and liturgies, the church has a Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. The chapel will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for adoration.
