The all-glass atrium and entrance canopy at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge, LA was featured as Most Innovative Entrance Project by Glass Magazine in its June 2015 issue. Glass is the official magazine of the National Glass Association, which provides information on current glass design and industry trends.  The magazine annually recognizes firms in the design industry for creating innovative and cutting edge structures.  The award was given to Novum Structures, LLC for building and engineering the complete enclosure.

Fox-Nesbit Engineering, LLC is proud to be a part of this project.  For this project, the engineers at Fox-Nesbit teamed with VOA Associates, Inc. to help create a solution for the steel and glass enclosure while keeping costs within budget.  This was accomplished by designing the foundations for the atrium and the connections for the existing building at Mary Bird.  FNE also analyzed and strengthened the lateral force resisting system of the existing building to accommodate the increased wind and seismic loads from the atrium structure.
