EDUCATION:
Louisiana State University, BS Civil Engineering Louisiana State University, MS Civil Engineering
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION:
Registered Professional Civil Engineer, Louisiana (#31631)
PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS:
American Society of Civil Engineers Louisiana Engineering Society National Society of Professional Engineers Structural Engineering Institute
GRADUATE STUDIES:
Mr. Fox’s graduate work focused on wind loads on signs and planar type structures. He worked with Dr. Marc Levitan (Director of the LSU Hurricane Center) in completing an update of the loading provisions on signs and freestanding walls for the ASCE 7-05 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures. His work in wind loading was published in the proceedings from the Tenth Americas Conference on Wind Engineering. Mr. Fox also composed an instruction manual for the use of GRL WEAP software with the aid of Dr. Roger Seals. GRL WEAP is a wave equation analysis program used for predicting stresses and soil resistance during pile driving.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Mr. Fox has a wide variety of experience in both civil and structural engineering. He worked with ABMB Engineers, Inc. for over seven years before joining Ryan Nesbit to form Fox-Nesbit Engineering, LLC. His engineering career began in transportation work performing roadway alignments, drainage calculations and bridge hydraulic work. He was involved in the design of a number of major roadway and bridge projects in Louisiana and Mississippi. After a short time with ABMB Engineers, Mr. Fox focused solely on structural engineering. He was involved in the design of bridges, buildings, retaining walls, flood walls, port facilities and other miscellaneous type structures. He was intimately involved the design and plan preparation for a number of major bridge projects including the I-10 frontage roads at Bluebonnet Boulevard and the Joor Road Bridge over the Comite River. As Project Manager and Assistant Division Head for the structural engineering division, Mr. Fox was in charge of managing a number of major structural projects including the rebuilding of the Oakwood Center Mall in Gretna, LA and the Liberty Road Overpass in Natchez, MS (the “Gateway to the Natchez Trace”).
Mr. Fox’s experience in building design includes wood and steel framed structures on both shallow and deep foundations. His experience ranges from residential to single story retail to heavy port facilities. He has been involved in numerous renovation projects including the restoration of the Historic Jackson Building in Downtown Baton Rouge. He has also been involved in a number of inspection projects including forensic work. He has investigated building damage due to fire, hurricanes and construction failures. In 2004, he joined a team from LSU to perform reconnaissance work after Hurricane Ivan.
